CaliforniaDestinations in California
California is a big state with a wide array of tourist destinations. With major cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, national parks and wildlife, beaches, and scenery galore, the Golden State is sure to have something for everyone.
Home to some 33 million people, California offers popular tourist destinations like Disneyland in Anaheim, Universal Studios in Hollywood, or Sea World in San Diego. But it also boasts lesser-traveled regions. From theme parks to wine country, from zoos to national parks, from beaches to mountains, rich in multicultural heritage, California travel has it all.
The state of California is divided into a number of tourist destination areas. In the southern part of the state, visit San Diego County, the Inland Empire region, or California deserts like Death Valley. (Bring sunscreen.) A little further north, you’ll find Los Angeles and Orange County, known for beaches, sunshine, and a lot of entertainment.
Between L.A. and the San Francisco Bay area is California’s Central Coast, a beautiful region of beaches, wildlife, and old Spanish missionary towns. Around San Francisco and Oakland, enjoy California wine tours or stroll the city streets. Go east to the Central Valley for agriculture and beautiful state parks.
The Gold Country and High Sierra/Sierra Nevada regions include the state capital, Sacramento, as well as breathtaking mountain vistas and Lake Tahoe. The North Coast, the real heart of California wine country, is also the home of California’s famous sequoias and redwood trees. In the northeast corner of the state, Mount Shasta and the Shasta Cascade provide some of the most varied and interesting terrain you’re likely to ever see.
