Asia

Asia is the largest continent in the world, with a huge sprawling land mass of almost 50 million square kilometers including its island and encompassing 49 countries. It’s home to some of the oldest civilizations, oldest religions, highest peaks and plateaus, largest countries, and largest populations. To say that Asia is simply massive is quite the understatement.

Asia is divided up into several sub-regions, each with their own distinctive characteristics and cultures. Things start getting a bit murky where Southwest Asia merges into the Middle East and Eastern Asia into Europe where a number of these borderline countries can be placed along different political and even geographical boundaries.

While much of Asia is grasslands, Siberia, or simply uninhabitable, it also hosts some favorite, well-known countries and cultures like China, Russia, India, Singapore, Korea, and Japan.

Exotic locations like Thailand, Borneo, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines are the perfect hotspots for the adventurous. Their big cities are surprisingly modernized, so it won’t entirely feel like a culture shock.

While Asia may be firmly the East, it is marching into the 21st century, taking Western values and giving them a unique feel and look.
